ABOUT ME

PERSONAL PROFILE

Hi! My name is Logan Masters, a current student at The California Institute of the Arts and practicing theatre technician from Irvine, CA.

I originally started down this rabbit hole because I liked to tinker as a kid. I made a mess of pens, flashlights, neglected toys-- anything I could get my hands on to create. This would turn into making replicas from my favorite media properties, costumes for Halloween or conventions, special FX makeup, and more. Going into high school, I enrolled into a stagecraft class since it sounded similar to my pass-times and I needed art credit on my transcript. That same year I was put on our school's drama club executive board and it's been an obsession ever since.

I took up scenic design, technical direction, and stage management as production values of interest-- building and maintaining an environment which lends itself in telling a story on a grander scale. I believe that theatre allows us to do more than create exceptional art, rather it opens us up to leave behind our preconceived notions of what it means for something to be "real" or "correct", whether that be in terms of what we are literally experiencing or something more abstract like a way of thinking. I now pursue a BFA in Experience Design & Production from Calarts where I hope to hone my skills and further my exploration of storytelling as a means of redefinition.
